The Polytechnic All Lecturers’ Association (PALA) was founded in the year 1996. The Association came into existence due to the collective vision and wisdom of a few Polytechnic teachers who joined the Department of Technical Education, Andhra Pradesh from the year 1987 onwards. The founders of the Association had to struggle to establish a base for the Association’s effective functioning during its infancy.
The Association was registered under the Society’s Act on 8th May 1996. Within a few months of its formation, i.e. on 4th September 1996, the members of PALA working in 65 Govt. Polytechnics across the state launched an indefinite strike for extension of AICTE Scales of Pay as their main demand. The strike ended after 58 days on 31st October 1996 when the Govt. constituted a 3 Member Cabinet Sub Committee for extension of AICTE Pay scales to teachers working in Govt. Polytechnics
